IMEA Elementary and
Middle School Honor Choirs
as part of the
IMEA State Convention
January 17-18, 2008 - Indianapolis
Since 1990, IMEA has sponsored an elementary and a middle school honor choir. Selected students who are participating in Circle the State with Song Area Festivals will have the opportunity to audition for these All-State Honor Choirs. These choirs are select groups of approximately 140 singers each. Our goal is to choose singers from each of the 12 area CSWS Festivals to fill balanced parts. Both of the groups will perform at the IMEA STATE CONVENTION, JANUARY 17 & 18, 2008 at the Indiana Convention Center, Indianapolis, IN.
The fee for this choral experience will be $125 for either group. This fee includes four meals, All-State music, rehearsal tape, and an overnight stay at the Marriott Hotel, Indianapolis. A limited number of partial scholarships are available (completed online in CSWS Online Registration form). Please make sure that any student who submits a scholarship form understands that they are responsible for the balance of the cost.
All directors who submit audition tapes MUST be members of MENC/IMEA for an audition tape to be accepted. Students of non-member teachers who submit tapes for consideration will be rejected. Remember: A student may be enrolled by a private studio or community choir director ONLY if the student's school does not participate in the Circle the State with Song Festivals.

Teachers may submit NO MORE THAN EIGHT audition tapes per school. Please be selective. These tapes and the accompanying application must be sent to your AREA COORDINATOR by October 26, 2007. Teachers are asked to be certain that students will indeed be available on Thursday, January 17 and Friday, January 18, 2008, before submitting the application and tape. Final selection will be made by the CSWS Committee in November, 2007. Students and teachers will be notified of the decision by approximately November 16, 2007.
A separate rehearsal tape for Honor Choir will be sent to each participating singer along with the Honor Choir repertoire. Teachers will need to monitor the progress of Honor Choir singers from their school. TEACHERS--please check on this--ONCE SELECTED, STUDENTS WILL BE RESPONSIBLE TO GO ONLINE AND COMPLETE THE REGISTRATION PROCESS.
Please read carefully and follow the instructions as stated in the attached audition process. FAILURE TO DO SO WILL DISQUALIFY THE AUDITION TAPE.
