2007 Student Scholarship of $500

as awarded by

Indiana General Music Education Association

The IGMEA Memorial Scholarship is awarded annually to a music education major who plans to teach elementary or junior high/middle general music.

Music education students who have completed their junior year of full time study in an Indiana college or university are eligible to apply. The applicant should exhibit high scholastic standing and musical ability.

Procedure for Application

1. Prepare the following written statements:

  1. Musical Experience: Explain musical background, achievements, honors, musical workshop attendance.
  2. Personal Philosophy of Music Education: Explain some personal reasons why you wish to teach music and some broad objectives you wish to accomplish through that teaching.

2. Forward the following materials to the IGMEA Scholarship Committee:

  1. Your Musical Experience paper
  2. Your Philosophy of Music Education paper
  3. A transcript of your college grades
  4. Letters of recommendation from two music faculty members
  5. Your school and home address and telephone numbers

Deadline: April 30, 2007

Announcement

All applicants will be notified of the results by August 1, 2007. The scholarship will be presented to the recipient at the annual IGMEA September Workshop. This workshop is scheduled to take place September 29, 2007 at Happy Hollow Elementary School in West Lafayette.
