A native of northern Colorado (Loveland), Cody Jackson earned his BME in K-12 Instrumental
Music Education (Magna Cum Laude) from the University of Northern Colorado (Greeley, CO) in 2012.
During his time at UNC, he traveled to Romania with Jazz Lab I and Maryland with the UNC Trombone
Choir. This is Mr. Jackson’s 7th year in music education overall. Mr. Jackson’s most recent appoints were
at The Classical Academy, a K-12 charter school in Colorado Springs, CO the past four years as well as
Lesher Middle School and Kinard Middle School congruently in Fort Collins, CO the years previous.
During Mr. Jackson’s time the last four years at The Classical Academy, he taught and assisted in
all areas of the band program including concert band, jazz band and marching band, but primarily
focused on junior high band. The last two years, Mr. Jackson has been the music arranger for the Titan
Marching Band and enjoys arranging on the side. During his time at TCA, all bands have received
consistent superior ratings at festivals, 8th grade bands have been selected and performed at CMEA
(Colorado Music Educators Association) twice, has had increased representation in honor bands and the
marching band has been back-to-back state champions in 2A the last two years.
While in Colorado, Cody was an active trombonist and bass trombonist in the Colorado Springs
area. He played principal trombone with the Rocky Mountain Wind Symphony, a semi-professional
concert in the area under the baton of Ken Soper. Also, he played bass trombone with the Academy Jazz
Ensemble, an ensemble that exists to promote jazz education and is made up of local area music
educators.
