General Music Fall Workshop - Saturday, September 16

The Fall General Music Workshop is a one-day workshop in Indianapolis for general music teachers. It is designed to give educators new educational tools and tips as they head into the new academic school year. Through a very interactive, hands-on workshop, teachers will explore new ways to get their students involved in the classroom from music room games, dancing, and other fun activities. Educators can earn up to 5 PG points.

Schedule:

  • 10:00-10:50am - Information and Programs: What Works for Me
    • Clinician: Rebecca Hampton
    • Session Description: In this session, we'll discuss the system of parent visitations and grade-level performances that Rebecca has developed over her 18 years of teaching. You'll receive helpful tips, ideas for advocating for what you know is best for you and your kids, and experience some of Rebecca's favorite activities to share when families are in the room. 
  • 11:00-11:50am - The Artist Within
    • Clinicians: Josh Pedde & Lauren Southard
    • Session Description: This session takes a look at ways to open up music to singers by reviewing discernment, community, physical activity, and personal connection.

  • 12:30-1:00pm - CSWS Reading Session - Josh Pedde
  • 1:00-1:50pm - Tried and True Singing Games and Dances!
    • Clinician: Rebecca Hampton
    • Session Description: In this session, we'll experience kid-tested, kid-approved games and dances for grades K-4. Come learn something new that you can implement into your lessons right away. These are sure to be a hit with your students! 
  • 2:00-2:50pm - Cultivating Student Voice to Start the Year
    • Clinician: Sarah Maggie Olivo
    • Session Description: We'll explore students creative music making, visible thinking strategies, dramatic play, and representation as tools to start the year strong. The session will include singing and instrumental activities for both primary and intermediate grades, all intended to cultivate community and belonging.
