Beginning & Developing Teachers Workshop

IMEA is pleased to offer the Beginning and Developing Teachers Workshop as a tool to further develop your skills as a classroom music educator in their first through fifth year teaching music in Indiana. Geared towards beginning and transitioning teachers who are looking for help with classroom management, new teacher assessments, planning music trips, or guidance on communication with administration. Learn from veteran educators, surround yourself with other educators who are new and/or further developing their skills, and take in ideas and tools that you can immediately incorporate into your classroom!

Our keynote address will be from Joshua Pedde, Artistic Director of the Indianapolis Children's Choir and an author on leadership.

Sessions generally include: Classroom Management, working with students with special needs, effective rehearsal strategies, talking with an administrator, avoiding burnout, recruiting, using technology, and sharing concerns and successes.

There is NO COST for your music teachers to attend. In fact, IMEA will reimburse your corporation ½ of the substitute teacher cost for FIRST year teachers who attend the workshop. The workshop will run from 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. and lunch is also provided at no cost to attendees.

IMEA is pleased to offer this workshop to address the unique needs of music teachers. The purpose of the workshop is to provide new and developing teachers with support and helpful information.
