CollegiatesCollegiate NAfME is an opportunity for future music educators at the Collegiate Level to engage with their professional association while also gaining valuable skills at the local level through chapter programming and leadership opportunities. Collegiate members at the IMEA level maintain full access to membership benefits, while also gaining attendance at many programs through generous discounts. Collegiate Chapters elect 1 representative to the IMEA Board of Directors each year, to serve a 2 year term. Collegiate NAfME Chair
Dr. Dimmick joined the faculty of Butler University in 1991 where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in music education. Prior to her appointment at Butler she taught public school general music and percussion for seven years, and was an adjunct faculty member in music education and percussion at Taylor University, Ball State University, and Marian University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Taylor University and Master of Music and Doctor of Arts degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Ball State University. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA), as Collegiate Chair of the North Central division and on the National Collegiate Advisory Board of NAfME, The National Association for Music Education.
IMEA Collegiate Representatives
Abby Jarman – Sr. Collegiate Representative Abby Jarman is a senior at Anderson University (Class of 2026) studying Music Education and Special Education. Her focus is in working with students that have moderate to severe disabilities using both Music and Special Education practices. She is the current Secretary of her school's cNAfME chapter and an active member of the Indiana Orff Schulwerk Association. Outside of schooling, Abby works with young actors in musical theatre and tutors students in high school and college for a variety of subjects. She is a passionate musician who loves to play clarinet and sing for any occasion available to her. Once Abby is finished with schooling, she plans to work in underdeveloped school systems with students of all backgrounds using music to guide them through their early development.
Ethan Hacker – Jr. Collegiate Representative Ethan is a Music Education major and a percussionist at the University of Indianapolis (Class of 2026). He actively participates in his university's very active cNAfME chapter. Beyond his studious responsibilities, he stays very busy teaching many marching percussion programs across the state both during the Fall and Winter seasons. He also volunteers a lot of his time in different music classrooms assisting the teacher. Additionally, Ethan is a Music Performance major at UIndy with an additional concentration in Music Composition. He is very passionate about teaching above all else. Following completion of his degree program, Ethan wishes to become an elementary general music teacher.
