CollegiatesCollegiate NAfME is an opportunity for future music educators at the Collegiate Level to engage with their professional association while also gaining valuable skills at the local level through chapter programming and leadership opportunities. Collegiate members at the IMEA level maintain full access to membership benefits, while also gaining attendance at many programs through generous discounts. Collegiate Chapters elect 1 representative to the IMEA Board of Directors each year, to serve a 2 year term. Collegiate NAfME Chair
Dr. Dimmick joined the faculty of Butler University in 1991 where she teaches both undergraduate and graduate courses in music education. Prior to her appointment at Butler she taught public school general music and percussion for seven years, and was an adjunct faculty member in music education and percussion at Taylor University, Ball State University, and Marian University. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Music Education from Taylor University and Master of Music and Doctor of Arts degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance from Ball State University. She has served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Music Educators Association (IMEA), as Collegiate Chair of the North Central division and on the National Collegiate Advisory Board of NAfME, The National Association for Music Education.
IMEA Collegiate Representatives Ethan Hacker – Sr. Collegiate Representative Ethan is a Music Education major and a percussionist at the University of Indianapolis (Class of 2026). He actively participates in his university's very active cNAfME chapter. Beyond his studious responsibilities, he stays very busy teaching many marching percussion programs across the state both during the Fall and Winter seasons. He also volunteers a lot of his time in different music classrooms assisting the teacher. Additionally, Ethan is a Music Performance major at UIndy with an additional concentration in Music Composition. He is very passionate about teaching above all else. Following completion of his degree program, Ethan wishes to become an elementary general music teacher.
Austin Sigler – Jr. Collegiate Representative Austin Sigler is a music education major and studies trumpet at Anderson University (Class of 2027). Austin was born and raised in the small town of Frankton, Indiana, and attended Frankton Jr/Sr High School. During the summer, Austin spends his time working with several high school marching bands, teaching brass and conducting. Additionally, during the academic year, he serves as the music librarian for instrumental ensembles at Anderson University. Austin also serves as the Vice President of AU’s cNAFME chapter. He enjoys singing in Chorale and Vox Corvi, as well as playing trumpet in Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band. Outside of school and music, he enjoys reading, baking a variety of breads, gardening, and spending time with his friends and family. Throughout the year, Austin works at a local cafe where he makes coffee, bakes pastries, and serves the community. Austin feels called to teach music because it has had an immensely positive impact on his life, and he believes that every child should have the opportunity to experience that joy. Austin is devoted to music education in the state of Indiana, and upon graduation, he plans to pursue a career as a high school band director.
